Meet Dr. Batchelet

Dr. Andy Batchelet attended Penn State University where he majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia where he earned membership in The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and The Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Batchelet continued with an internship at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital.

In 2016, Dr. Batchelet was chosen as one of the Top 40 Under 40 physicians in the state of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Medical Society for his surgical skill and patient care.

Dr. Batchelet brings a wealth of experience.  He has performed over 20,000 cataract, LASIK, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, in addition to thousands of in-office laser and plastic procedures. This experience allows him to provide more predictable results with a level of safety that is far beyond what is typical for most eye surgeons. He is experienced in refractive lens exchange, ICL implantation with the EVO+ lens and is one of only four surgeons in Western Pennsylvania who offers the Light Adjustable Lens. Dr. Batchelet is also one of very few surgeons who offers Dropless Cataract Surgery eliminating the need for postoperative eye drops after cataract surgery in most patients.

He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He wishes to bring compassion, personalized care, and cutting-edge technology to each patient.

Dr. Batchelet is a member of the Christian Ophthalmic Surgical Expedition Network Surgeon and has performed hundreds of cataract surgeries on multiple mission trips to Mexico and Nicaragua.

Family

Mission Work

During my medical residency, I embarked on my first mission trip. I had the opportunity to work with local doctors in Peru to provide eye care to individuals who had little to no access to health care. This experience changed me forever. It instilled a desire to make mission work a part of my life.  In 2022, I was fortunate enough to join an organization named ChOSEN (Christian Ophthalmic Surgery Expedition Network). Their mission is to provide cataract and retinal surgery to underserved patients in Mexico, Nicaragua and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I have had the opportunity to take part in many missions and have gained lifelong friends and a great deal of experience.
